Hold the phone.  For the month of August were 3 inches above normal on rainfall.

My dad once said, "you can take 30 day periods and just about get average weather."  Looking back on the past 30 days of rainfall I've totaled 5.44 inches of RAIN!  Thats about 1 inch above average.

Weather is all about timing and location.  Here we are in the midst of a drought but yet sit above average in rainfall for the past 30 days.

If the rains that fell Aug. 1-2 fell a few days earlier historians would look back at the July record and wonder what the hub bub was all about July being dry.

July rains were scattered troughout the state dumping much needed rain in some areas while leaving areas just down the road dry.  Ideally 1" a week is needed for crops and green lawns and for July the 30 yr averages are close to that.

Thats all they are, averages.  Averages of big rains, little rains, scattered rains and isolated rains.

It was our turn here in the Twin Plex for a good rain.  The rains of August 1-2, which I received 1.02 and 3.35, just brought our totals to normal rain fall for the past 30 days.
